SCREENINGS
Avant-Drag! paints portraits of ten drag artists of varying gender expressions and sexualities who take to the streets of Athens to query, problematise and (yes, please!) undermine social strictures. Employing wildly imagined personas – like riot housewives and Albanian turbo-folk girls – who perform acts as revolutionary as praising abortion and as charming as drawing childish pictures, these artists call for social justice by taking aim at conservatism, patriarchy, patriotism, racism and sexism.

Even if this means discovering who her son really is.

WORKSHOP: LOW-BUDGET FILMMAKING AS METHOD
HOSTED BY: SMARAGDA NITSOPOULOU - 3 HOURS
Most workshops for independent filmmakers begin with the same assumption: that you’re working with less than you should have, and that your task is to compensate—to imitate the look and scale of films made under very different conditions.
This workshop begins from the opposite premise.
Instead of working around limitations, you’ll explore how to work from them—treating low-budget filmmaking as a deliberate method, and a space for creative decision-making rather than compromise.

STRAY BODIES
Robin is pregnant, but does not wish to become a mother. Katerina is not able to have a child, even though she wants to. Kiki's sole desire is to end her life with dignity. Unfortunately, abortion, in vitro fertilization and euthanasia are not legal in their respective countries. Stray Bodies explores the notion of body autonomy within Europe, a place where you are allowed to travel, work and consume freely, but not necessarily to live or die according to your wishes.
